About The Cars:

The Cars were an American rock band formed in Boston in 1976. The band consisted of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Ric Ocasek, lead guitarist Elliot Easton, bassist Benjamin Orr, keyboardist Greg Hawkes, and drummer David Robinson.

In their early days, The Cars built a following in the Boston rock scene with their unique blend of new wave and rock music. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1978 and included hits such as 'Just What I Needed' and 'My Best Friend's Girl'. The album quickly went platinum and established The Cars as one of the most exciting new bands of the era.

Over the next few years, The Cars released a string of successful albums including Candy-O, Panorama, and Shake It Up. They continued to produce hit singles including 'Let's Go', 'Shake It Up', and 'You Might Think', the latter of which was one of the first music videos to use computer animation.

In 1984, The Cars released their biggest album, Heartbeat City, which included the hit singles 'Drive', 'Magic', and 'Hello Again'. The album went on to sell over four million copies in the United States.

Despite their success, The Cars disbanded in 1988 due to creative differences between Ocasek and Orr. Orr passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2000, but the remaining members reunited in 2010 for a new album called Move Like This.

Ric Ocasek was born on March 23, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland. He formed The Cars in 1976 and served as the band's lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and primary songwriter. Ocasek wrote many of the band's biggest hits, including 'Just What I Needed,' 'My Best Friend's Girl,' and 'Drive.' He also released several solo albums over the years and worked as a producer for other artists. Ric Ocasek passed away on September 15, 2019, at the age of 75.

2. Benjamin Orr - Bassist and Vocalist
Benjamin Orr was born on September 8, 1947, in Lakewood, Ohio. He co-founded The Cars with Ric Ocasek and served as the band's bassist and secondary vocalist. Orr sang lead on some of the band's most famous songs, including 'Drive' and 'Moving in Stereo.'
