About The Moody Blues:

The Moody Blues are a British rock band formed in Birmingham in 1964. The original lineup consisted of Denny Laine on guitar and vocals, Clint Warwick on bass and vocals, Ray Thomas on flute and vocals, Graeme Edge on drums, and Mike Pinder on keyboards and vocals. Justin Hayward and John Lodge would join the band in 1966, just before the recording of their classic album 'Days of Future Passed.'

The band's early music was rooted in rhythm and blues and was more in line with the British Invasion sound of the time. However, with the addition of Pinder's Mellotron and Thomas' flute, the Moody Blues began experimenting with new sounds and styles, eventually developing a unique blend of psychedelic and symphonic rock.

In 1967, the Moody Blues released their groundbreaking album 'Days of Future Passed.' The album was one of the first concept albums and seamlessly blended orchestral elements with rock music. The album's lead single, 'Nights in White Satin,' became a huge hit and helped solidify the Moody Blues' place in rock history.

Throughout the 1970s, the band continued to release successful albums, such as 'On the Threshold of a Dream,' 'To Our Children's Children's Children,' and 'Every Good Boy Deserves Favour.' They also toured constantly, becoming known for their elaborate live shows that incorporated a full symphony orchestra.

In the 1980s, the Moody Blues had a resurgence in popularity, thanks in part to the success of their hit single 'Your Wildest Dreams.' The band continued to release new music and tour throughout the decade and beyond.

Over the course of their career, the Moody Blues have sold over 70 million albums worldwide and have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their legacy as one of the pioneers of symphonic rock continues to influence musicians today.

About the album Octave:

Octave is the ninth studio album released by the British rock band, The Moody Blues. It was released in 1978 by Decca Records and was the last album to feature lead singer and guitarist Justin Hayward, bassist John Lodge, and drummer Graeme Edge before their hiatus that lasted until 1981.

The album features a mix of styles including rock, pop, and progressive rock, and was heavily influenced by the band's own personal experiences. The album's opening track, 'Steppin' In A Slide Zone,' is one of the band's most popular songs, featuring a groovy beat and catchy chorus. The song, 'Driftwood,' showcases Justin Hayward's beautiful voice and showcases his classic songwriting style that captures the essence of searching and finding one's place in the world.

The track 'Top Rank Suite' is an instrumental piece that features intricate guitar work from Hayward and Lodge, while 'The Day We Meet Again' is a nostalgic ballad that hints at the band's impending hiatus. The album's title track, 'Octave,' closes out the album with a soaring melody and epic production that showcases the band's ability to create a powerful and moving musical experience.

Overall, Octave is a solid album that represented a shift in the band's sound, as they moved toward blending their classic style with more modern elements. The album's varied styles and themes, combined with the exceptional musicianship of its members, make it a must-listen for fans of The Moody Blues.
